This course addresses the key principles and standard operational practices in cementing in oil & gas drilling. It covers primary, squeeze and plug cementing. Cement chemistry and the manufacturing process are introduced to create awareness of quality variation of the raw material and the resulting operational requirements. Additives used to adjust specific properties of the slurry and of the set cement are discussed. Rheological models used during cement job design in the simulation process and requirements for effective mud removal will be explained. Cementing aids and job quality evaluation methods will be discussed. New technology developments and advancements available for cementing operations will be highlighted throughout the course.
